Ten days.
Generations of tradition.
01 / THE CAMP
For ten days each year, Hortense becomes a gathering place for worship, fellowship, family and traditions that have been shared across generations.
02 / CAMP MEETING
Ten days set apart.
Camp Meeting is ten days of worship, preaching, music, fellowship and time together at Hortense. Families and friends gather throughout the day for services, meals and traditions that have been shared here for generations.
01 / MORNING
Breakfast begins the day before everyone gathers in the Tabernacle for the 11:00 AM morning service.
02 / AFTERNOON
Lunch is served at 12:00 PM, followed by children’s classes and activities, fellowship and time to rest before the evening service.
03 / EVENING
After the night service, campers gather at the Snack Shack for food and fellowship, while the youth continue the evening with Afterglow.
04 / WORSHIP
At the heart of Camp Meeting.
Worship has been at the heart of Hortense since the first Camp Meeting. Each year, people gather beneath the open-air Tabernacle for preaching, music and time together in worship.
Evangelists, pastors, musicians and worship leaders have helped shape Camp Meeting through the generations, while the purpose of gathering together has remained the same.
The time between services matters, too.
05 / FELLOWSHIP
Some of the memories made at Hortense happen outside the Tabernacle. Meals are shared, conversations stretch a little longer and families and friends have time to simply be together.
Around the table, fellowship becomes part of the tradition; sharing meals, catching up and spending time with people who return to Hortense year after year.
06 / GENERATIONS
The next generation of Hortense.
For generations, children have grown up coming to Camp Meeting—worshiping, playing, sharing meals and making memories with family and friends.
Today, another generation is experiencing those same traditions, becoming part of a story that began more than a century ago.

07 / STAYING AT CAMP
For ten days, Hortense becomes home.
Staying on the campgrounds has long been part of the Hortense experience. For generations, campers have settled into the cabins for ten days of worship, fellowship and life together.
The accommodations may be simple, but that's part of the tradition. Days are spent moving between the Tabernacle, meals, activities and time with the people who make Camp Meeting feel like home.
08 / TRADITIONS
It’s the little things people remember.
Some traditions are part of the schedule. Others simply become part of Camp Meeting after years of people returning and doing them together.
Returning to the same open-air Tabernacle where generations before have gathered is a tradition all its own.
01 / THE TABERNACLE
Camp Meeting isn’t a single service or weekend. For ten days, everyday routines give way to worship, fellowship, activities and time together.
02/ TEN DAYS TOGETHER
The night doesn’t necessarily end with the final song. Campers often stay together afterward, with visits to the Snack Shack and Afterglow for the youth extending the evening.
