WELCOME TO HORTENSE

A PLACE TO GATHER.
A PLACE TO WORSHIP.
A PLACE TO RETURN TO.

For generations, Hortense has been a place where people come together in faith, fellowship and tradition. What began as a camp meeting continues as a gathering place for worship, connection and memories shared from one generation to the next.

10 Days That Can Last a Lifetime.

THE HORTENSE TRADITION

July 22–August 1, 2027

Ten days of worship, fellowship, family and traditions that have brought generations together at Hortense Camp Meeting year after year.

OOUR HISTORY

A tradition generations in the making.

01/

In the early 1900s, Rev. William Marion Lee came to Hortense and held a tent revival. In 1904, he founded the Hortense Wesleyan Methodist Holiness Camp Meeting as an annual gathering for spiritual renewal and revival.

THE BEGINNING

02/

The Tabernacle was completed in 1905, and generations of families have gathered at Hortense ever since. Through donated land, materials, resources and countless acts of generosity, the Camp Meeting continued to grow while preserving its original purpose.

GENERATIONS GATHER

More than a century later, Hortense continues as a place of worship, fellowship and tradition. The same open-air Tabernacle remains at the heart of Camp Meeting as a new generation carries its heritage forward

SINGER

Todd Horne grew up surrounded by two passions: singing and preaching. After accepting Christ at age eight, music became more than a hobby—it became a way to share the Gospel. Since 1999, Todd has served in full-time worship ministry and currently serves as Worship Pastor at Golden Acres Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama. A familiar face at Hortense, Todd has been part of Camp Meeting several times through the years and returns in 2027 to share the Gospel through music.
